Georgia State Patrol Pursuit of Wanted Felon in Stolen Jeep || Multiple PITs

On January 2, 2023 at approximately 10:35 am Troopers with the Georgia State Patrol Crime Suppression Unit assisted The East Point Police Department with the apprehension of a subject with multiple felony warrants driving a stolen Jeep Grand Cherokee. The suspect was Mathew Gaskins, 19 years old. Gaskins was wanted and/or being investigated by several jurisdictions in the metro area to include College Park Police Department, City of Hapeville Police , Georgia Tech Police Department, Gwinnett County Police Department, City of South Fulton Police Department, East Point Police Department and others.
While attempting to serve arrest warrants on Gaskins he fled on Washington Road in East Point near Pearl Street driving the stolen Jeep. Gaskins then drove into the back yard of a home. A series of PIT maneuvers were performed to attempt to stop Mr. Gaskins criminal activities safely. While damaging several vehicles Mr. Gaskins again fled onto Washington Rd. and ended up at 3100 Washington Rd. in a parking lot.
Another series of PIT maneuvers were made by Troopers with the vehicle and the vehicle was disabled when it struck a power pole. Gaskins was taken into custody without further incident.
