Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s (LAPD) Force Investigation Division is investigating a Law Enforcement Related Injury (LERI) that occurred in Central Division.
On July 7, 2025, the LAPD received information related to a civil unrest incident in Central Area, where 49-year-old Moises Corrales was struck in the face with a 40mm less-lethal projectile, discharged by a Central Patrol Division uniformed officer. During the incident, which occurred on June 8, 2025, at approximately 5:10 p.m., Corrales sustained a fracture to his jaw and was treated at a local hospital, where he was admitted for his injury.
Force Investigation Division conducted an assessment into the matter, which concluded on July 16, 2025, and determined that the use of force met the criteria for a Law Enforcement Related Injury.
Force Investigation Division (FID) investigators are currently investigating this incident.
