The KDK WK 40E-1 has been my favorite fan since my dad bought it back in 2003. It’s big, powerful, and beautiful. By the time I hit my teens in the 2010s, my beloved fan had yellowed, and the grill had some rust from all the use. Even though I still loved it, I often wondered what it would be like to see it fresh out of the factory in perfect condition. Well, two years ago, I stumbled upon this gem in a storage room, still sealed, with the box in amazing condition. After negotiating with the seller, an acquaintance of mine, I got it for just Rp. 200,000!
I took it home, cleaned up the box, and let it sit for a year. Today, I’m finally showing it to you, the BNIB KDK WK 40E from 1999, the predecessor to the WK 40E-1. What makes it stand out? The sleek black button switch, black-tinted blades, and a black blade knob that makes it look even classier and timeless. Still produced by National Gobel, the durability is unmatched. As expected, the base is heavy, the unit body is thick plastic, and that grill could survive a truck!
The motor is the same as the E-1 with different capasitor. At first, I was confused because it spun slower than my E-1. Then I realized it was still in its original state, that the motor shaft was quite dry and needed some lubrication. After some oil, it ran perfectly, smooth, powerful, and stable, just like the classic Matsushita fans.
Trust me, the experience of unboxing, assembling, and using this fan has been next-level for me. I’m confident it will last immortally!
