The PEABODY CREEK LOOP is part of the larger Peabody Creek Trail, which begins at the Olympic National Park Visitor Center in Port Angeles.
The loop is very short — about 0.5 miles in length.
The elevation gain on the loop is modest (~50 ft).
The trail is in a forested, creek-ravine environment with big leaf maple, red alder, fir, and cedar trees.
There’s a footbridge over Peabody Creek, and the loop goes under some fallen trees.
Dogs are allowed, but must be on a leash.
The loop is open year-round.

DIFFICULTY & TRAIL CONDITIONS
Rated moderate by Washington Trails Association (WTA) for the larger Peabody Creek Trail.
The terrain includes some steep inclines, steps, and crossings via wooden bridges.
Trail maintenance: WTA mentions that crews have worked to gravel muddy sections, build steps, and restore a footbridge.
According to a trip report, there may be fallen trees, muddy spots, and erosion in places.
Getting There
Trailhead: On the western edge of the Olympic National Park Visitor Center parking lot.
Parking & Facilities: Use the Visitor Center — parking and restrooms available there.
Permits / Passes: A National Park pass is needed for parking / entry.

EXPERIENCE & SCENERY
This is a very peaceful, forested hike — more about ambience than big views.
Great spot for a quick nature walk, or as a “warm-up” trail before heading out on longer hikes.
Wildlife: Because it’s near creek and forest, you might hear or see birds, and possibly other small animals.
Best for: Families, casual hikers, people visiting the Visitor Center, or runners looking for a short paved loop (or semi-paved).

TIPS
Wear good shoes: Some muddy or uneven spots, especially after rain.
Leash your dog: If bringing pets, keep them leashed per trail rules.
Bring water: Even though it’s short, having water is always good.
Time of day: Morning or late afternoon can feel very serene with filtered light through trees.
Trail map / directions: Use a map or GPS, especially if you want to continue beyond just the loop onto the longer Peabody Creek Trail.
