Shotgun Crotch bowl

I recently purchased some walnut slabs from an old fella that cut them up about 30 some years ago, with his father, they cut them with the intention of using them for gunstock. when i arrived the old fella greeted me with a 2 barrel shotgun but not for the reason you might imagine, he wanted to show me his craft, he had made this years earlier to replace the old one on his 200 plus year old shotgun, Neal wintermute is his name, he is the father of a lady my wife works with, and she is the mother of a friend of my youngest son. $100 later i had the wood loaded in my ford truck and i told him that i would turn him a bowl, he said " that would be nice" the same weekend i have this turned and my wife with give it to he daughter next time she sees her, i dare not risk another encounter with his 2 barrels lol.
I have been woodturning since 2013, I love it as a creative outlet.
For me it has been a journey, from my great great grandfathers wooden bowl that i own to my fathers the community or woodturners is great, there is lots of help and support out there available at the touch of a button. don't be intimidated or scared to ask questions no matter how basic, most of all be safe in your workshop, follow all safety rules and guidelines.
use channels such as mine as inspiration and entertainment.
it is recommended to get proper training with power tools to prevent accidents
most of all remember to be creative and have fun
