Situated in Smyth County, Virginia, Buller Fish Hatchery is a unique hybrid facility that has been raising both warm and cold-water species since 1958. The hatchery is also home to the Aquatic Wildlife Conservation Center, which focuses on endangered mussels, and a sport fish hatchery that produces species like walleye, black crappie, bluegill, muskie, and trout.
Spanning 147 acres, the hatchery utilizes surface water from the Buller Dam and boasts 20 acres of production ponds. With millions of fish raised annually, Buller Hatchery supports over 20 lakes and streams across Virginia.
