Named ‘Le Lieu Clair’, or ‘In The Light Space’, this 45sqm/484sqft Parisian apartment at the foot of Montmartre is a thoughtful response to the brief: a calm, functional home filled with light, character, and purpose. Designer Edouard Doria Mafféïs co-founder of Space Factory, worked within the original layout, reimagining every corner — opening up the ceiling to reveal a 3.5 metre volume with skylights, building a new platform bed with generous under-storage, and crafting a warm yellow kitchen designed for everyday cooking and gathering. Smart, compact design features include a custom hydraulic bed, dual desks, a concealed laundry, and a 50cm deep shower that can be filled like a bathtub. Terracotta accents, soft textures, and hidden storage help define zones without visual clutter, while floor-to-ceiling bookshelves and artful lighting reflect the couple’s love of creativity, comfort, and calm.
