The Spartathlon! Team USA back for Redemption!

In 2011 No Americans reached the finish line in Sparta. Oz Pearlman and Michael Arnstein returned in 2012 for redemption after their DNF's in 2011.

With record high temperatures and an eventual 79% DNF (did not finish) rate, the 2012 race proved to be the most challenging year in the 30 year history of the event!

What makes the Spartathlon so so difficult is not only the distance of 153 miles, but the cut offs at check points along the way, with the final cut off of 36 hours to reach the finish line. The best runners in the world get timed out in this event if they don't keep moving quickly over the entire distance.

This is the story of how we triumphantly completed the most difficult ultra marathon in the world.153 miles from Athens to Sparta in under the 36 hour cut off.

350 starters, 79 finishers. We finished 24th and 25th respectively, together in 33 hours and 20 minutes.
