Perfected- Balaghal ula bi Kamalihi- English Song adding to Shaykh Saadi's Rubai

Shaykh Saadi Shirazi (r) started writing his famous quatrain in praise of the Prophet ﷺ, he couldn’t complete the final verse. That night in his dream, he saw the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ along with his companions. He asked Saadi why he looked troubled. Saadi replied that he couldn't finish his poem. The Prophet ﷺ asked him to recite it for him. So he did:

بَلَغَ العُلَا بِكَمَالِهِ

كَشَفَ الدُجَى بِجَمَالِهِ

حَسُنَتْ جَمِيع خِصَالِهِ

The Prophet ﷺ added the final verse by reciting:

صَلّوُا عَلَيِهِ وآلِهِ


'Perfected' is a contemporary addition to the tradition of poems being written to supplement this blessed quatrain. The second stanza is a translation of Shaykh Saadi's quatrain:

A Hidden Treasure
Was The Lord Mighty

Who loved to be known
In all His Glory

So, He made a light
That worshipped solely

Blessings upon its
True reality!


2.
He attained the heights
Perfected is he

He dispelled darkness
With his pure beauty

Beauteous is his
Every quality

Blessings upon him
And his family!


3.
He was raised aloft
By his purity

He expelled the doubts
With his clarity

Bounteous is he
In his clemency

Blessings upon the
Truly praise-worthy!


4.
Lowest of the low
I am so lowly

How will I survive
What becomes of me?

He replies I am
For sinners, mercy

Blessings upon me
And my family!


5.
On the Day when we
Terrified will be

When the limbs do shake
And the eyes can’t see

Only he will rush
To answer our plea

Blessings upon him
For eternity!
