2025 Italy Guest Artist Masterclass - Helen Tintes, mezzo-soprano

In collaboration with Conservatorio Giacomo Puccini La Spezia, we were thrilled to welcome Dr. Helen Tintes—a distinguished performer and master teacher—for a dynamic and inspiring session.

Dr. Tintes is a versatile singer-actress whose career spans opera, operetta, and musical theatre, with roles including Carmen, Suzuki (Madama Butterfly), Marcellina (Le Nozze di Figaro), the Witch (Hansel and Gretel), and Mme. Giry (The Phantom of the Opera). Her portrayal of Zia Principessa in Suor Angelica was described as “a cold authority figure… played with self-righteous relish” (Inforum Press, USA).

She has graced stages such as the Gran Teatro del Liceu (Barcelona), Theater an der Wien (Vienna), and Chicago Opera Theatre, and has performed in festivals throughout Europe. One standout moment: singing in Elektra with Gwyneth Jones at Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona.

As an educator, Dr. Tintes has held positions at Music and Arts Private University of Vienna, Northwestern University, Florida Gulf Coast University, and Florida International University. She divides her time between Southwest Florida and Vienna, Austria, mentoring rising artists through her studio, Vienna Voce.
