Kiandra in the Snowy Mountains Region of New South Wales, at an altitude of 1400 metres above sea level, attracted a Gold Rush in 1860 when an estimated 10,000 people flocked to the area.
The rush lasted less than 12 months but a small population remained to endure the freezing winter temperatures for over 100 years.
Today, only ruins remain.
This short slideshow concludes with a mob of wild brumbies .
