slow summer eve - Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc OST [Piano]

The festival scene in the chainsaw man movie was so unforgettable that I decided to learn this soundtrack. It reminded me very strongly of a silent voice in terms of the atmosphere, imagery, and the music. I think it beautifully depicts the feeling of being just in the moment and enamored with another person even when there are so many others around.

Although this piece sounds technically simple, it actually took me many attempts to achieve close to the musicality I was aiming for. From the very first chord, and honestly throughout the piece, I wanted to make sure the music gave off a feeling of innocence, mirroring the scene of Denji and Reze enjoying themselves at the festival. I loved the blur effect they added around the scene as well and I tried to tie that effect into the music by using the soft pedal throughout the recording. With the soft pedal, the sound was less percussive and provided a rounder tone, also making it a bit more similar to the original recording of the soundtrack. I also decided to take a slightly slower tempo to make it sound more reminiscent, almost as if the scene this music covers is now only a memory in the past.

This was recorded with a mic connected to my phone, hence no video footage of the actual playing unfortunately. I plan on learning and uploading all of Animenz's arrangements on this movie in the future, it was truly a 10/10 movie for me.
