An Era of audience has grown up listening to the masterstroke compositions of the phenomenal music director Shyam. The decennium extending from the mid-70s to the late 80s, Shyam revolutionized the Malayalam film industry composing music for more than 700 songs in 218 films who ranks fourth in terms of the number of songs composed. Unrivalled genius Shyam was almost standalone of his times with his own uniqueness and unparalleled compositions.
Working with all major directors of the time, Shyam had scored for many hits of Malayalam super heroes – Jayan, Mammootty and Mohanlal. Shyam assisted legendary Malayalam film composer G. Devarajan, joining him as his violinist. He also apprenticed under maestros M. S. Viswanathan who named him 'Shyam' and Salil Chowdhury. Besides Malayalam, Shyam has composed music for nearly 40 films in Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Gujarati, Bengali and one in English. Shyam had won Kerala State Film Awards for his music in films 'Aroodam' (1983) and 'Kaanamarayathu' (1984).
