This marvelous work by Girolamo Frescobaldi (1583-1643) consists in seven variations on a tune known as "More Palatino". The tune was quite popular at that time, and many composers wrote music on it (Byrd, Gibbons, Sweelinck, Buxtehude, Bull, van Eyck and many others).
This recording was taken in Sala Alfredo Piatti in Bergamo (Italy), as part of a recital which contained also works by Rameau, Adès, Beethoven, Bartók and Stravinsky.
