At the sacred grounds of Manhyia Palace, something deeper than ceremony took place.
Black men and women from the diaspora including Washington and Maryland returned home to reconnect with their roots through the powerful Akwasidae Festival.
This was more than travel.
More than culture.
It was remembering.
Standing before the Asantehene, listening to ancestral drums, and witnessing living tradition, the diaspora did not feel like visitors they felt restored.
Akwasidae at Manhyia reminds us that no matter how far we’ve gone, the door home has always remained open.
