Homestead UPdate Summer 2025

Hi, I wanted to share a homestead update! Summer is in full swing here in the deep south. We are experiencing some brutal heat. We lost Big Red – we think it was age related. ☹ We added some Everglade tomato plants in the greenhouse, and they seem to be doing better than any other variety. As always, some plants are doing very well, and others just struggle with the heat. We have a pretty good drip system in place and my husband is always evaluating it for necessary tweaks. I am struggling with the second new arbor area we have added by the grape arbor. I have not gotten anything to take off in this spot yet – but will keep trying. We have been able to harvest lots of staples that we eat every day!

We are just homesteading away ever inching near that goal of self-sufficiency! 😊
