On the 12th of October, we hosted an international Thursday Talk. Our Academic Director, Samantha Hardingham - recognised as the world’s leading expert on the works of Cedric Price, was joined by Jan Nauta - founder of Rotterdam-based Studio Nauta.
With Price’s forty-year career exploring the ‘dynamics of time in architecture’, Price’s work highlights the critical role that the brief plays in determining both the architectural output and its impact.
Founded in 2013, Studio Nauta builds on this research, pursuing architecture as a craft. Their buildings draw systematically on the qualities of a location, and are not only physically sustainable, but also socially and spatially. Through two of their recent housing projects, Studio Nauta dissected their integral approach to addressing the competing ecological, social and economic challenges of our time.
