Hussaini Bridge, Located in the Gojal valley of Hunza in the Gilgit Baltistan region of Pakistan, Hussaini Bridge is a part of Hussaini village and is known to be one of the most dangerous bridges in the whole world.
Being the most dangerous bridge, it still is a major tourist attraction in Hunza because of its scenic and fascinating view. The term dangerously scenic would best suit Hussaini Bridge. This wild bridge has about 400 steps made out of wooden planks which are a foot away from each other making the length of the bridge about 660 feet. The locals of the village are quite habitual of crossing this bridge as it is a means of transport for them on daily basis. In the past, when this bridge was not made, the locals used to go to Zar Abad village by crossing a dangerous hill so they demanded a bridge for their convenience by the ruler of Hunza Mir Muhabbad Jamal Khan. This bridge is loved by hikers and they test their skills by crossing this huge bridge. In the background of the bridge, is the captivating view of Passu Cones which will make your experience beautiful.
Only a few tourists are daring enough to cross it and the rest return halfway. But even if you are not daring enough to cross the whole bridge, you can still have an amazing view of your pictures. Hence, visiting Hussaini Bridge will surely be an enthralling and a lifetime experience.
We spent most of our afternoon wandering about there in Hussaini village with locals, But you can choose any village you want near you that you surely find the experience of just walk and talk very pleasantly.
Hussaini village travel experience is not complete without a gastronomy tour. It holds a legend that its population lives up to more than 100 years. The reason is from the quality of life they have as well as their diet based on organic food. We interviewed some of the people of the region to find out if the myth is true.
We were told that this used to be true, back in the days, but not any more as from the arrival of the many industrialised products. As a consequence of this change in the Hussaini people diet, the life expectancy of the people decreased considerably and just a few of them make it to 100 years old now.
Yet, you will eat a lot better in G.B than in anywhere else in Pakistan. So, don’t forget to try out absolutely everything you can, from organic fruits to honey, apricot oil, yak meat, organic milk, vegetables and even the prominent Salajeet. This is a local product – sometimes in liquid format to mix with your tea, sometimes as a sort of gum to mix with your food, made of the extraction of minerals of a particular rock and it promises to be aphrodisiac.
Travel to the incredibly remote village of Hussaini where you’ll meet the local families who live in this challenging environment and hike through the surrounding mountains.
Visited a women’s group supported by the Aga Khan Foundation to learn about their projects and have lunch at a cafe run by local women. The people of Hussaini village are strong and very hardworking especially women.
