(It's NOT what You Think...) Why THIS is The Best Oregon Coast Beach

Some would argue that Cannon Beach is the best beach in Oregon, and while we really did think it was amazing, I truly believe that Harris Beach is the most beautiful beach on the Oregon coast!
The sunsets here were absolutely incredible and well you’ll just have to watch the rest of the video to see what else we loved.

We had not yet experienced such awesome tidepooling on any other Oregon beach. There was amazingly abundant amount of sea life at Harris Beach, State Park. Just Another reason why we think this is the best beach on the Oregon coast!

And so many beautiful wildflowers!

Day 49 of 75:

Most of our boondocking has been 4 nights or less, and it’s really not a big deal conserving water and energy for these short bits. Our longest time between dumping the tanks was 8 nights, but I kept a pot in the sink and dumped the sink water outside so we didn’t fill up the gray tank. It was a daily trip to get water to refill the fresh water tank, and it helped that the temperature barely got above 60°.

But I will say, after going a very looooooong time with no hook ups and conserving water, I am truly embracing having full hook ups here ... nice, long hot showers every day, thoroughly washing and rinsing our tea cups, and giving the shower walls a good scrub down. In our 2 nights here we’ve dumped our 39 gallon gray tank twice! 😁

But this is just another short stop along the Oregon Coast! We are leaving Umpqua Lighthouse State Park (but not until I take one last long, hot shower 🥰🚿😜) and heading to Harris Beach State Park on the southern coast of Oregon. Just a stone’s throw from California!!
Some Oregon locals told us Harris State Park was their favorite here in Oregon. 😉

Harris State Park Campground is just a short walk to Harris Beach which is full of amazing sea stacks and glorious sunsets as we discovered this evening! 🌅 The sun turns this absolutely gorgeous golden color right before it sets. 🧡

Day 50:

If you thought we were done tide pooling, you were wrong. I think Jason thought we were done. He isn’t quite as enthusiastic about them as Alexis and me. 😜

This morning is the lowest tide (during awake hours) that we’ll have on the Oregon Coast so we take full advantage exploring the sea stacks and playing hide and seek with the sea stars. 😍

After exploring every sea stack on Harris Beach, We were just about to head back to camp for lunch when as I stepped over a seemingly dull “puddle” (actually a tide pool, but it was so small), I notice movement....... sure enough there is a entire web of life in this little “puddle”! Alexis and I sit for about a half hour enjoying our own personal aquarium full of purple shore crabs, lined shore crabs, sculpins, periwinkles, anemones, and more!

We’ve been doing a lot of driving lately and we’ll have A LOT of driving in our immediate future so we just decide to head 20 minutes north on 101 back to Pistol River State Scenic Point to check out the views.

We head back to Harris Beach for another gorgeous golden sunset 🌅 - so glad to see sunsets again. 💖
