Here's a short video shot while I was planing about 50 SYP boards to take them from rough sawn to a dimensional "1 by" (which is actually 13/16"). This is the DeWalt DW735 planer I use:

Keep an eye on Amazon, as this planer often has price drops and deals, including packages with feed tables and extra knives. I watched pricing for over 6 months before I jumped on a deal. When I bought it in December 2016, the planer, two feed tables, and spare knives was $499 with an additional $25 promotion offer from DeWalt to make it $475. I also use this stand with the planer:

I recommend some sort of stand with wheels if you have to move the planer around, as it is insanely heavy.
