Collated drywall guns each take a special size drill bit for them to function correctly. This makita BHR540 gun takes a 162mm or 157mm Philips 2 bit.
The motor stator inside the gun was dirty and was causing an excessive rubbing noise, which needed clean out.
The head inside was also dirty and needed a good clean out. The felt wiper was damaged when The build door was also missing. so both if these where replaced.
In general the makita collated guns are very good quality and last for years. This one was from 2007.
But best if all, every tiny piece one is the whole gun is available and can be replaced. meaning you don't have to replace the whole expensive head attachment.
