Charles Wood (1866-1926) was a boy chorister at St Patrick’s Cathedral Armagh and became Director of Music and Organist of Gonville and Caius College Cambridge in 1894. For the last two years of his life, he was Professor of Music at the University of Cambridge, succeeding Charles Villiers Stanford. He wrote 10 settings of the Magnificat and Nunc dimittis, including two in E flat, the second of which (heard here) was published posthumously.
