With the Ventus Bracelet, Adol is able to find a path leading out of the Zone of Lava. Unfortunately a flying monstrosity prevents him from making an easy exit.

This boss, like the Guilen, is also somewhat frustrating even when you know how to deal with it. It has a good number of attacks, shooting various fireballs from the foreground and from above you. Being a flying enemy, its basic fireball from above actually causes the ground beneath you to rise into the sky to give you a better vantage point to attack.

There is a downside to this, of course. Underneath the ground are rows of spikes which, if Gyalva does its blazing charge on, can permanently flip to the spikes side until it does the same move again, making footing very limited at times. Apparently this only occurs on Nightmare and Inferno, adding an extra layer of challenge alongside the other environmental threat: the fire jumping between the three sets of torches on the field that can ruin your jumps.

Besides the spikes, its strongest moves are the laser and fireball stream it shoots from the background, but with good use of Wind magic and the right equipment/level, it's doable. It also helps that right before the battle they give you the Dash ability, so you aren't slow as molasses and rammed into oblivion.

With an escape secured, Adol ventures topside back into the Illburns Ruins. There he finds a certain someone waiting for him.
