A new addition to my hobby of tiny RCs

This is my new XDRC 945 hydraulic excavator.
Seen here I’m moving some gravel down away from the damp course of my garage as it too high against the wall/door opening.

I ordered this model from Toucan Hobby through‪@hxl2988‬ with an upgraded transmitter to the FRSky Tandem XE. I’m really glad I did as the transmitter is fantastic and really intuitive to programme. The whole package has really been faultless and works very well.

I have completely reprogrammed the machine paying particular attention to the servo neutral points and operating curves. Once the servos were set up with constant hydraulic pressure from the pump, I then created mixes for the pump on each hydraulic channel.
I’m really pleased with how smooth the machine now operates. It was certainly ok out of the box, but understandably there is no way they have time to fine tune the controls like I have - it’s taken many hours of programming.

The sound included is the Kabolite unit. I’m not the biggest fan of the hydraulic whine this produces.
I decided that instead of the sound unit being hard wired into each function I would add plugs to the wires and mix the sound in on it own channel.
This allowed me to get rid o the hydraulic sound all together. In its place I have mixed in the rotation sound but at very low speed. This means the engine idle is increased and some sound is generated by the boom and arm. The rotation sound is retained at higher speed for the cab rotation.

Doing this also allowed me to change all the neutral points for the sound so they start as soon as the related function begins to move.
