Kaplan, Gould and Madsen’s Depth and Complexity Framework provides an excellent setup for rich learning for high ability students. “Its primary purpose is to push students towards thinking that is similar to professionals/experts. The creators sought to answer the question: How can educators prompt students to go beyond basic understanding of content and elicit critical thinking regardless of topic/content?” (The Depth and Complexity Framework). This workshop will take teachers through an introduction to the framework and provide an immersive exploration of how the thinking prompts can be used to ‘teach up’ for high ability learners.
