Pine Trees! We worked out how to fix the textures on the trunk where the branches, get them painted up with the airbrush to show shadows and highlights, and then how we flocked them using 2mm static grass and the Static King Applicator. This was not a fast or easy build the first time through, though I do think when I do this again, it will go a lot faster as I'd have less to figure out.
