Anne traces the history of baking across the South, from home kitchens to tea rooms, boardinghouses, early bakeries, and even the White House. These stories highlight resilience, adaptation, and how people relied on what the land provided. She also acknowledges the region’s complicated history and honors the craft of the mills and makers who shaped its foodways.
One of the mills she features is our own gristmill, The Old Mill. We’ve worked with Anne for years and are grateful to help shine a light on the people and places that shaped Southern baking.
