Have you ever checked your RV's hot water tank anode? Has it been more than 2 years since you last checked your anode? Is your water starting to smell sulfuric? These are all signs it's time to check.
Do you have to check your anode? Of course not, but that does mean you'll definitely be replacing your hot water heater long before you would have otherwise. The anode helps protect the metals in the tank by acting as a sacrificial metal: the water wants to attack any metal but the zinc in the anode is weaker than the stainless steel of your tank, giving the water an 'easier' target.
