Palm Beach Pans was founded out of a need to provide musicians with quality Musical Steel Drums. The standard methods of construction incorporate shaping Oil Barrels into Musical instruments. Pollis’ new technology uses hand selected Cold Rolled specialized gauge Steel that is shaped by precision measuring machinery to make quality Pans and insure quality control and quality sound. Pollis searched several manufacturers to find a very good quality pan to recommend to his students at a price point students could afford and was not successful. The need was further installed /identified as the Benjamin School in Palm Beach County representative Ted Swean approached Pollis and members of the Reel Ting Band to build Steel Drums and offer educational training for their schools. In addition Pollis met several students from the Pine School Steel Drum Band located in Florida and others with the same needs.

The Steel Drum was recently accredited as instruments into Symphonies and is gaining popularity into Middle Schools and High School educational programs throughout the United States. Kids and grownups alike are very excited about being part of a Steel BandDrum Band and the Classic sounds. of Steel drums. Pollis has also identified a very simple teaching approach and often has his students performing songs within two lessons.

Pollis began manufacturing Pans in the beginning of 2014. Pollis engaged Steel Drum experts from the industry such as Panyard and Keith Kropf Steel Drums and Eric Ness (Master Tuner) to jump start the project. Pollis also wanted to incorporate specific engineering that revolutionized the way Steel Drums were built. Jeff Anton Professional Engineer (PE) was brought in to help on the specifications and the design and spinning and Mold techniques to construct the Steel Drums. Traditional Pan Builders use very crude shaping technology to construct their pans. Very often no two Steel Drums are the same or share the quality or sound of each other and therefore no quality control can be insured.
