hi friends, follow these instructions
How to uninstall air conditioner with gas store
Steps for Uninstalling an AC with Gas Store (Pump-Down Method):
1. Safety First!
Turn off the power: Locate the circuit breaker for the AC unit (both indoor and outdoor units) and switch it off.
Wait a few minutes: Allow the system to fully power down.
2. Prepare the Outdoor Unit for Refrigerant Storage (Pump-Down):
Locate the service valves: On the outdoor unit, you'll find two copper pipes connecting it to the indoor unit. These pipes have service valves with caps. Remove these caps. You'll typically see a smaller (liquid line) and a larger (suction line) valve.
Connect the manifold gauge set:
Connect the low-pressure (usually blue) hose to the service port on the larger (suction) valve.
Connect the high-pressure (usually red) hose to the service port on the smaller (liquid) valve.
Connect the yellow (or center) hose to the vacuum pump (you won't turn it on yet).
Close the liquid line valve: Using the correct Allen key, fully close the smaller (liquid line) service valve.
Start the AC in cooling mode: Have someone turn the AC unit back on at the thermostat (just the cooling function).
Monitor the low-pressure gauge: Observe the low-pressure gauge on your manifold set. The pressure will start to decrease as the refrigerant is pumped back into the outdoor unit.
Close the suction line valve: Just before the low-pressure gauge reaches close to 0 PSI (or slightly below, depending on the refrigerant type - consult a professional if unsure), quickly close the larger (suction line) service valve using the correct Allen key.
Turn off the AC: Immediately turn off the AC unit at the thermostat.
Turn off the circuit breaker again: For safety, switch off the power to the AC unit at the breaker.
Disconnect the manifold gauge set: Carefully disconnect the hoses from the service ports. Some residual refrigerant might escape, so be cautious. Replace the service valve caps tightly.
3. Disconnect Electrical Wiring:
Access the electrical connections: On both the indoor and outdoor units, locate and open the electrical connection boxes.
Take photos and label wires: Before disconnecting any wires, take clear photos of how they are connected. Use your marker and labels to mark each wire and its corresponding terminal. This is crucial for correct re-installation.
Disconnect the wires: Carefully disconnect the wires using your screwdriver or pliers.
Insulate wire ends: Use insulating tape to cover the exposed ends of the disconnected wires to prevent accidental contact.
4. Disconnect Refrigerant Piping:
Use two wrenches: Use two adjustable wrenches to loosen the flare nuts connecting the copper pipes to both the indoor and outdoor units. Place one wrench on the nut and the other on the fitting to prevent twisting the pipes.
Be prepared for minimal refrigerant release: Even after the pump-down, a small amount of refrigerant might still be trapped in the lines. Be prepared for a slight hiss when you disconnect the pipes.
Cap the pipe ends: To prevent contamination (moisture and debris) from entering the pipes, it's best to cap the open ends of both the pipes on the indoor and outdoor units. Flare nut caps are ideal for this.
5. Remove the Indoor Unit:
Detach from mounting bracket: Locate and remove the screws or clips that secure the indoor unit to its mounting bracket on the wall.
Carefully lift the unit: With the help of your assistant, carefully lift the indoor unit off the bracket. Be mindful of the drain hose.
Disconnect the drain hose: Disconnect the drain hose from the indoor unit and allow any residual water to drain into your bucket or tray.
6. Remove the Outdoor Unit:
Detach from mounting: If the outdoor unit is mounted on a bracket or pad, remove the bolts or screws securing it.
Carefully lift the unit: With the help of your assistant (this unit can be heavy), carefully lift the outdoor unit from its mounting.
7. Clean Up and Storage:
Inspect the area: Check the installation areas for any damage or debris.
Clean the units: Clean the indoor and outdoor units to remove dust and dirt before storing.
Store properly: Store both units in a dry, secure location, protected from the elements and potential damage.
Important Considerations:
Refrigerant Handling: Releasing refrigerant into the atmosphere is illegal and harmful to the environment. The pump-down method aims to avoid this, but any significant release indicates a problem.
Vacuuming the System: Before re-installing the AC, it's crucial to use a vacuum pump to evacuate the system. This removes air and moisture that can damage the compressor and reduce efficiency.
Leak Testing: After re-installation and vacuuming, a leak test should be performed before releasing the refrigerant back into the system.
Local Regulations: Be aware of any local regulations regarding the disposal or storage of air conditioning units and refrigerants.
