This makes the screen diva 25 this year, 2025 and 18 at the time of her marriage to Prince Ned Nwoko in May of 2019. However, we conducted a quick check on the source of this information, and it will interest you to know that there is no source. Does this mean we should disregard the information on Wikipedia? Well, not so fast.
Following the couple’s marriage in May 2019, the whole nation criticised Regina Daniels’ parents for allowing their daughter to marry a man three times her age. During that period, the biological father of the actress, Barrister Jude Ojegwu, surfaced, and he debunked narratives that he was in support of the union. In a live Instagram phone conversation with Instagram gossip account, Cutie Juls, the actress’s father revealed that she was 17 at the time of marriage. According to Barrister Ojegwu, his daughter was born at Inland Specialist Hospital in Alapere, Ketu, Lagos, on October 10, 2001.
The biological father of the Nollywood star also mentioned that Ned Nwoko was 62 at the time, not 59 as reported in the media. Barrister Ojegwu said he knows this because they both grew up in the same compound as young boys. Seeing his daughter marry a man older than himself and one he used to call “Bros” was an extremely painful experience. Barrister Ojegwu revealed that he could not marry the actress’s mother, Rita Daniels, properly because they could not trace her father. Since they separated, Rita assumed the position of sole decision-maker in the family, which, he argued, was due to her greed.
About five months later, in October of 2019, Rita Daniels granted an interview to BBC Pidgin, and her account of their daughter’s age differed from that of Regina Daniels' father.
During the interview that has now resurfaced, Rita Daniels clarified that her daughter was 19 when she married Senator Nwoko and was nearly 20 at the time. The veteran Nollywood actress further defended Regina’s decision to marry the senator and compared her daughter to an old woman, arguing that she is wiser than her age.
According to Rita Daniels, Regina was the one who told her she wanted to get married at a young age. Yet, people are taking Panadol for another person’s headache. “Did my daughter come out to say she was fòrced into marrying Ned?” she asked. Rita added that Regina married for love, and even as her mother, she has no right to tell her not to marry for love.
