POV Night Drive in The 1,050HP Lucid Air Grand Touring Performance /// Allcarnews

Lucid Motors kindly lent me this Air Grand Touring Performance, around $160k as tested, for a week, and I still am collecting my thoughts on the mind bending capability and tech of this futuristic EV. So…. How was it? While I’m a Stealth Edition fan, the understated looks easily mask the 1,050 HP powertrain and super sedan chassis underneath; unless you can identify the unique GT-P 21’inch wheels. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

On the road, the Air Touring is FAST. I found the interior incredibly quiet though almost… too quiet? Enough to hear the creaking seats, leather and squeaky steering wheel. Though the incredible chassis control and balanced steering in the corners washes issues away and is impressive for a heavy sedan.

For not having an air suspension, the Lucid Air rides VERY well, heck one may think it is an air suspension. Downsides? I still don’t like the steering wheel as it blocks part of the dash, and the charging port was a bit finicky to close at times. While range can be impressive, the addictive power/capability of the GTP will make that number collapse if you are on it all the time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

For $160k-$170k new is the GTP worth it? Arguably no. I would go straight to the equally as capable Touring, Grand Touring and heck even the sub $80k Pure, all of which achieve fantastic range, look nearly identical, and ride the same. It’s a niche trim and fun If you can afford it. 7.9/10 for me.
