West Coast Adventure NZ: Punakaiki and Pancake Rocks during a storm | Caves | 34 weeks pregnant

Welcome to our long weekend, family road trip adventure to Punakaiki on the West Coast of the South Island in New Zealand.

It was a stormy weekend and we hit a bunch of flooding, slips and road closures along the way, but we made it to our destination.

We stayed in a beach side cabin in Punakaiki and had a good exploration of the Punakaiki caves, before heading to dinner at the Punakaiki Rocks Hotel.

The next morning we wandered around the scenic Pancake Rocks Blowholes, before getting some breakfast and finding a swing bridge. We then made our way over to Greymouth and stumbled across a motorcycle street race which turned out to be Go Karts, before heading back to Punakaiki Beach and going to the Garden bar for dinner.

We had a beautiful and peaceful evening watching the sunset over the beach.
We had to take a few detours to get home, but the weather cleared up while we were away and we had a lovely time by the stormy wild beach.
