Leading up to the 1983 All Star Game, the National League had won 19 of the last 20 All Star Games, including 11 in a row. With Whitey Herzog as their manager, the NL lost the 83 ASG to the AL 13-3. After the NL won the 84 and 85 All Star Games, The NL again lost in 86 under Whitey, 3-2. Now, after the NL again won in 87, Whitey Herzog will try to win his first All Star Game as NL manager.
