The Loneliest Mountain Cabin in the World! - Three Fingers Lookout, WA [4K]

RT: 25 miles (via Meadow Mountain)
RT: 32 miles (via Three fingers trailhead)

As of Sept 2023, FS 41 is closed at miles 8 due to road and bridge damage. There are a couple of options to get on the trail:
1. Tupso pass (official trail): Including 8 miles of hiking/biking (E-Bike is recommended!) from the bridge to the trailhead.
2. Meadow Mountain: Requires 2 miles of hiking/biking from the bridge and it hits the main trail at the Saddle lake. It cuts less than 2 miles but add almost 5 miles of elevation gain (good option to avoid biking). I would call it "The Endless Trail"!
From Saddle lake to Goat Flats, there are several meadows and some marsh lands. The only snow left (Aug. 2023), are a few snow bridges about 1 mile away from Goat Flats, then intermittent snow patches. The final mile to the lookout is where the most elevation happens and you will hike up (0.25 mile) the glacier. You will hear the sound of water and little water runoff which is the last water source before the lookout. I would highly recommend bringing the shelter since the lookout is first come first serve and might be crowded! (It was empty when I got there) It can accommodate 5-8 people. So, being prepared to set up a basecamp in Goat Flats and day hike the lookout could be a reasonable alternative. There are two small informal! campground next to the base of the glacier before the lookout too.
This challenging hike requires stamina, both mentally and physically to push through the tiredness of the long approach.
