A sightseeing helicopter broke apart in mid-air on April 10, 2025, crashing upside down into the Hudson River between New York City’s Manhattan island and the New Jersey waterfront. All six people on board died, including the pilot and a family of Spanish tourists. The tragedy was the latest high-profile aviation disaster to hit the US. New York mayor Eric Adams said the flight began at a downtown heliport at around 3pm and that the bodies of all victims were recovered.
