Hello Shiny Crafty People and welcome back to the channel!
Today, I'm modifying a t-shirt so that my friend who takes chemo treatments for hours at a time can wear a more comfortable shirt and still give the medical pros easy access to the port on her upper chest area.
I'm even making a few extra to donate to a local charity for people living with cancer and I hope you'll consider making a few for people you know and groups in your own community!
Here are a few videos that I watched for inspiration before devising my own version:
Cool shirt that just unzips a smaller window: • Zippered Port Shirt - How to transform you...
Great kid's shirt tutorial: • How to Sew a Zip Shirt
SUPPLIES:
1 T-Shirt
1 Zipper (I used a 9" one but you can use smaller for kids or larger and cut down)
1" wide strip of fusible interfacing
Matching Thread
Sewing Machine
Scissors
Iron
I made this first one in about 20 minutes of prep and sewing time, but you can probably cut that time down once you make a few. You might also get feedback from folks and decide how to address the neck opening differently in the future.
I hope you'll take a few minutes to make some of these for worthy people in your area and, until next time, stay crafty! Bye for now.
