Cape Town-based selector Alan weaves Caribbean and African sounds into vibrant sets that blur the line between a DJ set and auditory storytelling. Alan’s sets, rhythmic and uplifting, have quickly established him as a favourite throughout the city. His latest project includes tutoring a young DJ, Lex, and together (operating under the name ALAN&LEX).

Alan is also the voice behind an incredible 10-part podcast series, I’ll Always Be Your Brother, recounting his time in the Ethiopian Zion Coptic Church during the 1970s in Jamaica. Through vivid personal memories, the series tells the untold story of a radical Rastafari movement, its spiritual mission, and its misunderstood role in Jamaican and global history.

The series comprises 16 one-hour episodes rolling out over the next 8 months (2 episodes per month), showcasing some of my favorite artists, DJs, and colleagues from the Cape Town and South African music scenes.
