New Device May Prevent Ileostomy!

Colovac is a NEW Investigational Device which may help prevent ileostomy in paitents with rectal cancer having surgery. In the current SafeHeal Clinical trial we are enrolling our observational cohort of patients undergoing rectal cancer surgery with an ileostomy. Patients in this cohort receive additional blood and imaging to assure proper healing. Patients will be compared to a future cohort who undergo rectal cancer surgery with Colovac instead of an ileostomy. Colovac is currently an investigational device. FDA approval pending findings of this trial.
