Chapter 15 of Exodus begins with the people of Israel singing a song to the Lord for their deliverance by the power of God. The song was started by Miriam, and then joined by the others. The challenge she faced was to summon the courage to sing by herself regardless of what others did or did not do. The challenge they faced was whether to remain silent in the face of God’s mighty deliverance or give God the praise that was appropriate. The same challenges remain for us in light of all that God has done in our lives.
