His introduction here is really different from canon, since, well, that was based around Sasuke. Now it's not. And the thing he said to Naruto... basically let's just say Shukaku knows that Kurama's sealed inside Naruto. He doesn't have to be there when it happened or know who or what Naruto is. He just... knows Kurama's chakra and prescence if he sees or senses it. And since he's the one manipulating Gaara, you can do the Math.
That's about it. Everything in this episode is quite straight forward.
