This is my 1937 Kissel Waterwitch 1/2 HP, 2-cycle stationary engine. It was made by the Kissel Company of Hartford, Wisconsin the same company that made the Kissel Cars from about 1910 to 1930 when the depression but them into bankruptcy. The company started up again in 1933 no longer making cars but just small motors and even vending machines! This engine was used on the Sears and Roebuck Waterwitch washing machine. Sears also sold Waterwitch outboard motors using Kissel motors, that ranged from 1-10 HP. During World War 2 Kissel had a War Department contract to make brass and bronze torpedo parts. These stationary motors are rather rare as more of the outboard motors are still around.
