This Teatime with SHE is the second installment in our ongoing series, Dialogues in the History of Science, Medicine and Advocacy. Through these conversations, we aim to illuminate how science and social change evolve together—through voices, stories, and mentorship that cross generations and geographies.
One of the earliest and most powerful models of that kind of bridge-building was Martin Delaney, the focus of our webinar today. Long before “patient advocacy” was institutionalized, Delaney insisted that people living with a disease, in this case HIV and AIDS must not just be included in science but be partners in it. As someone who was never afraid to confront power with truth—and truth with vision—IN my view he helped change not just HIV policy, but the entire architecture of research and community engagement. Featuring Professor Anthony Fauci.
