Celebrating Navarathri with Navadurga in Navarasas
Day 5 is dedicated to Devi Skandamata. She is the mother (mata) of Skanda (the six faced lord muruga) His six faces symbolises the six lower chakras of our body that are associated with material desires. Just like she combined six Kumaras (babies) to give "birth" to Kartikeya, She is instrumental in attaining mastery over the six chakras so that we may then realise the seventh Sahasrara. She is the symbol of Karuna Rasa, the epitome of compassion.
