Alijos Rocks are a group of tiny, steep and barren volcanic islets or above-water rocks in the Pacific Ocean at 24°57'31, Roughly 520 nautical miles South of Point Loma, CA and 161 nautical miles NM west of Baja, MX
This trip we caught wahoo and when the bite slowed, we did some bottom fishing for Cabrilla. I dropped my underwater GoPro rig to see what was down there. We were in 80' of water just barely able to see the bottom from the boat. There were plenty of fish. We were trying to conserve our bait so the crew asked that we use some old dead bait. Unfortunately the bait didn't stay on the hooks very well. From time to time I would use fresh dead bait and those stayed on the hook.
The underwater rig usually doesn't spin a lot once it's at the bottom. My guess is that fish were bumping it. Sharks were definitely hitting it.
