Step into the history of Badagry, Lagos, Nigeria, one of the most painful places in Africa’s past.
In this one-hour documentary, I take you through the true story of the slave trade in Badagry, from the barracoons to the Point of No Return. This is more than a travel video; it is the story of our ancestors, their suffering, their courage, and their journey.
I visited the Abass Williams Barracoon and the Mobee Family Museum, where thousands of Africans were kept before being taken across the Atlantic. I saw the heavy iron chains, the small dark cells, and the original tools used during the slave trade.
I also visited the Badagry ancient well, crossed the lagoon to the Point of No Return, and followed the same route millions of enslaved Africans walked before they left the shores of Nigeria forever.
Along the way, I met with Badagry locals who shared stories about their culture, food, traditions, and the gods their ancestors worshipped.
This documentary is a reminder of where we come from as Africans.
It is emotional. It is raw. It is real.
And I hope millions of people get to watch this story.
Please share this documentary so more people can learn about our history.
