I finally bought the original Grimm Brothers’ fairytales in Germany! 🇩🇪📚
Most of us grew up with Cinderella, Snow White, Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood, Hansel & Gretel—but the original stories were much darker and were never meant for children.
The Brothers Grimm collected these stories to preserve German folklore and culture, and their books went through 7 different editions. With every edition, they added, removed, revised, or softened stories.
By the 7th edition, the collection had 210 stories, many of which were rewritten to be more kid-friendly.
