I recently sent my Hanwei Practical Plus Elite katana to Fred Lohman to have the tsuka rewrapped with brown leather ito. As I mention in the video, I chose to keep the original koshirae except for the menuki. I replaced the old menuki with a set of hachi (bee) menuki that I ordered from Japan.
The test cutting in this video consisted entirely of left and right kesa giri cuts.
Notes: The Munetoshi tatami omote mats were soaked overnight and drained for 30 minutes.
