This is a short sample of Mantis Applications (Tang Lang Quan Yong Fa).
It shows me doing the techniques with two of my students. Dennis, the shorter one, was able to practice the apps before, Marvin the taller one was just thrown in.
Applications should work in different situations, not just one special situation.
Also it is very important to also have the right understanding of the correct energy, timing, structure (own and of the opponent) etc .... if this is not the case, applications are useless and often only done with speed but no power.
The applications are all taken to show some major principles of Tang Lang Quan: like breaking the Liu He - Six Harmonies, fake high - aim low, attacking both sides simultaneous and so on.
I was not trying to just overpower my students or cause any injury! So I was careful with strikes to the joint or throws to the ground! Please note that!
