This video shows how to check engine oil pressure using the FORScan diagnostic program.
The demonstration is done on a Ford Mondeo MK5 (2016, 2.0 diesel), but the same method works for most Ford vehicles, as long as the PCM supports oil pressure data.
Using FORScan, we read live engine parameters such as:
Engine oil pressure
Engine oil temperature
Engine RPM
Engine oil life remaining
By monitoring these values together, you can get a much clearer picture of the real engine condition, especially once the oil reaches normal operating temperature.
🚗 Common Ford models supported:
Ford Mondeo
Ford S-Max
Ford Galaxy
Ford Fusion
Ford Fiesta
Ford Focus
Ford Kuga
Ford Edge
Ford Mustang
🔧 What you’ll learn in this video:
How to connect FORScan to your Ford
How to find oil pressure data in the PCM module
How to view live oil pressure readings
Why oil temperature and RPM matter when checking oil pressure
Different ways to display live data (table, dashboard, oscilloscope)
📌 Note: This is a data-reading method only. It does not replace a mechanical oil pressure test if a fault is suspected.

🔧 Engine Oil Pressure Test – Reference Values (FORD / FORScan)
Test conditions:
Engine fully warmed up
Engine oil temperature: 85–95°C (ideal ≈ 90°C)
Vehicle stationary, engine running
Correct oil specification fitted
Live parameters to monitor:
Engine oil pressure
Engine oil temperature
Engine RPM
Engine oil life remaining
Expected oil pressure values (warm engine):
Idle (750–850 rpm):
1.2 – 2.0 bar (120–200 kPa)
1,500 rpm:
2.0 – 3.0 bar
2,000 rpm:
2.5 – 3.5 bar
3,000 rpm:
3.5 – 4.5 bar
Normal behaviour:
Oil pressure increases smoothly with RPM
Oil pressure is stable at constant RPM
Slight pressure drop as oil temperature rises
Warning signs:
Below 1.0 bar at hot idle
Pressure does not rise with RPM
Unstable or fluctuating readings
Notes:
Cold engine readings are not reliable
Low oil life or incorrect oil viscosity can affect readings
FORScan provides live data only — mechanical testing may be required if faults are suspected
